With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

I am studying in class IX in Kendriya Vidyalaya Ottapalam in palakkad district. I think that there should be at least three periods for sports and games in a week and there should be two periods for yoga. The system of education should not be based only on textbooks but also on general knowledge then students can attend any kind of examinations.

1. There should be an emphasis laid on experimental learning 2. High Order Thinking should be implemented in the classes 3. The subject material must go beyond the text books in the sense that there should be extra research work done. This will ensure that the students interact more with their teachers and engage in the subject. 4.There should be more than one examinations for each subject. This will ensure that one paper does not decide the life of a particular student.

At the intermediate level subject named as Entrepreneurship Skills Development should be introduced. This initiative would take India forward in the 21st century by paving way for job creation for millions of people in years to come.Indian youth be would be job creator rather than job seeker which would give boost to our economy.in present scenario students want good job but we should inculcate in them entrepreneurial skills so that they can create jobs for others being self employed themselves.
