Manual scavengers are largely illiterate and have no exposure or aptitude for doing business or taking up self employment ventures.  This makes their rehabilitation in alternative occupations very challenging.

\

What are the ways in which the manual scavengers can be gainfully employed in other occupations, so that they do not return to manual scavenging? Participants may share success stories that they may be aware of.

There has been many posts regarding sanitation, cleanliness, hygenic environment etc. But unfortunately many of the citizens do not realize their duty and all we do is blaming the scavengers or the sweepers or the drainage workers. But do we really care those people who clean the drainage everyday? No.. A survey says there are many people living in this country who remove human wastes with their hands!

Scavengers can be organized into an enterprise wherein sewage can be effectively utilized for commerce. It can create an organized sector and employment opportunity for energy generation, water recycling and reclamation of minerals.

Dear PM, wé were expecting some change in governance after you coming to power. Unfortunately nothing more has changed. I recently came back to country after 3 years of éducation abroad. I am not at all satisfied with thé current system. No body are taking responsibility in amnistie all government bodies. Be it in railways or local panchayat or municipalities..thé same ils techniques are in process. Thé bribary system is at its peaks. Things are not getting as easy as i was getting abroad.

Respected PM, All facilities are to be provided for rehabilitation. Send some of the top level officials to Three George Dam, China and ask them to study for implementing in India soon. China took for 14 lakh people R & R problem the biggest in the world so far by providing all minimum requirements for the scavengers, family & children. Then we can come out with god results. India with 3rd position in GDP for the last 6 years still seeing these scavengers by foreigner tourists notice in India.

Sir, it's a pleasure to join a movement for growth, development and prosperity of my great nation. I would like to draw attention towards solvent act 2005 & essential commodity act which is being misused by babus for personal gains.

Biggest rehabilitation took place for shifting 14 lakh people in China while constructing the world biggest hydro power plant. Effective rehabilitation for the scavengers come in full shape when single bed room houses, roads, education schools for their children, hospitals, water supply for usage, drinking electricity ration shops banks and Post offices etc are to be provided and feel them to be comfort. Govt should consider not only for scavengers even for others when R & R problem arises.
