The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been mandated by the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate the tariffs offered by the Telecom Service Provider for its various services. The telecommunications sector in India has witnessed several changes in the past few years in terms of the tariff offerings of various telecom service providers. This has not only resulted in an exponential increase in the use of telecom services but has also resulted in the tariffs of telecom services in India being amongst the lowest in the world.

In the last few months, many concerns have been raised about the health of the Indian telecom sector and the need to fix a floor price for telecom services. TRAI has so far observed a policy of forbearance in respect of telecom tariffs for valid reasons. It gives the service providers the freedom and flexibility to design their tariff offerings as per the demands of the market. It gives free play to the forces of healthy competition and has resulted in an exponential growth in the Indian telecom sector in the past two decades. Most economists also advise against market interventions by the regulator in tariff fixation.

However, ensuring the provision of ever-increasing data consumption and a good Quality of Service requires a lot of investment in maintaining and improving telecom infrastructure. Fast pace of technological changes in the sector require huge capital investments. Telecom sector is the infrastructure provider for many other sectors of the economy. Thus, making sure that the telecom sector remains healthy and its orderly growth are equally important.

Considering this aspect, a consultation paper on “Tariff Issues of Telecom Services” has been issued on 17th December, 2019 to invite comments from all the stakeholders, on various issues relating to tariff in telecom sector.

The consultation paper on “Tariff Issues of Telecom Services” has been uploaded on TRAI’s website (www.trai.gov.in). The written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by 17th January, 2020 and counter-comments by 31st January, 2020.

The PSU Telecom Operator BSNL is struggling with lack of technical experts resulting in loss of business. They should be made has the ideal company and their fare should be the maximum amount which any private can charge and there should be a price band with range band within which the telecom operator has to fix the price

#Indian Railway Nagarsol Railway station is just 15 minutes away from Manmad Junction by train. Most of train coming from Chennai and Kakinada in which Pilgrims for Shirdi is coming halting at Nagarsol. Outside of Railway station more than 500 four wheelers taking any amount of money from pilgrims to go for shirdi. So request to Railway Ministry give Manmad as halt to such trains instead of Nagarsol. This will stop cheating of passengers by four wheelers or extend trains upto Shirdi directly.

Wrote many requests to get Internet in my neighborhood by BSNL tower orr by Broadband many times since 3 to 4 years but no one from Government side is taking initiative. It's very bad thing to be experienced. It started with a Digital India initiative which never worked until now. Now a days Internet is as much important as Water and air. Please do initiate some programs like satellite broadband or by electric connection or some New methods

PM Modi wants to make Digital India. The first movement in this field is internet connection is compulsory but when tariff plans of telecom companies are taking higher price that's not fair...... At that time the tariffs price should become low ......

hello sir my problem is tariff plan validity....why they give us 28days? 365/28=13.... so as you can see there is a cheating to consumer by telecome operator.... they are made the year of 13months so automatically we have to pay for 13months this is totally openly cheating they can't do that...TRAI must have to do something...

Any of tarrif plan must have clarity for rasily understanding. It never should be in any short form or coding language because most of recharges are done by customer in confusion. And later they realize that the plan taken by them are not as per their requirement.
