Government may want to think of a scheme where it can give the certain kilometers of road to private companies just to maintain greenery, keep it clean and build and maintain a public toilet every three kms. These companies can be allowed to advertize for their products or brand with that patch of street. These companies can be given rebate in the tax on the expenditure they do it in maintaining the street.

Traffic violators can be roped in for the mission. Instead of handing out challans, they can be asked to undertake the task of cleaning an area for an hour on a specified date or so, something like the community service concept in the US. If only the locating the violator could have been easier.

I think we should purchase green waste from societies and individual houses at some nominal cost, to process it for composting. Offering some money for waste will add value to green waste collection and will encourage the people. It will reduce the total waste volume.

The one thing which must be fined is spitting on roads and public places. This is a nuisance. People driving sedans and spitting out gutkha or pan masala is a painful site. The roads are full of spit and cough which speaks very bad of the country and our etiquette as citizens.
